Public Education

Programs for Children, Young Adults & Families

The FDBD offers school based fire and life safety programs in our Pre-School thru High School via classroom programs like Learn Not To Burn and Risk Watch, Visits and Programs in the Classroom by our Public Education Officer and school firehouse tours to our facility at 514 6th Avenue.
Support materials and on site instruction are offered at our Adult Learning Center to adults and families. Speaking Programs at church and social club gatherings are available on site or at our Fire Headquarters Training Room.
Current and relative fire and life safety materials are available for distribution to the community. Current videos and DVD’s on fire and life safety topics can be loaned and checked out at our fire headquarters public education office.

Programs for the Elderly

Facility Safety Day’s are held twice a year at local Senior Apartment Complex’s and Assisted Living Facilities. NFPA’s Remembering When Fire and Fall Prevention Program is used. Home Safety Council Senior Awareness materials and program is available on site or at our Fire Headquarters Training Room.

Programs for Businesses

Emergency evacuation planning, how to operate a fire extinguisher, and how to handle emergencies in hotels and healthcare facilities classes are provided to our business community on site or in our Fire Headquarters Training Room.

Our Public Education Office provides Smoke Detectors, Batteries, Carbon Monoxide Detectors and Home Safety Survey to our residents.
